Another app is currently holding the yum lock; waiting for it to exit

Solution:

  • On the command prompt
  •      $ps aux | grep yum
  • This will output the process id of the “yum” process
  • Note the process_id and then do the following
  •      $kill -SIGKILL <process_id>
  • Once the process is guild run the $ps command again to check if the process has been killed.
  • Continue with the previous “yum” command again
